RULES AND GUIDELINES

Using the theme “Squatting Affects You and Me” The LSA intends to ignite the minds of our nation’s youth via an Art Competition which will both be geared towards students in the following categories:

  • Primary Schools- (Standards 1-3) 2 Dimensional Art
  • Secondary Schools (Forms 1-3) 3 Dimensional Models

Students are expected to clearly highlight via creative self-expressions, any aspect of squatting as it affects the everyday lives of citizens within our nation. Innovative and critical thinking will be encouraged here.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Primary School participants would be required to submit a 2D representation of their interpretation of the theme. Registration begins September 20th, 2017 until October 12th, 2017. Registration forms must be printed out, stamped with the School Stamp and taped to the bottom right corner of the back of the artwork. The art piece must be a minimum of 11×17 inches and must not be larger than 20×26 inches. The piece MUST be accompanied by a description (200 words maximum) of what is being represented. There are no limitations on the type of material that can be used in the 2D art piece. Entries that are not properly labelled would be disqualified. Please note that photographs would NOT be accepted as an acceptable art submission.

Apart from the registration form there is another form attached, for participating schools to list the names of the students participating. Each school is required to fill out this additional form (separate from the Registration Form), listing the names of the students participating and stamped with the School Stamp. This Form is to be submitted via email to LSAinfo@lsa.gov.tt by October 27, 2017.

Students must be currently enrolled in Standards one (1) to three (3) to be eligible.

All registered schools and students are to submit their Artwork to any of the LSA’s offices located at St. Madeleine, Tacarigua and Port of Spain, on or before November 3rd, 2017.

The finals would be held on a date, time and venue to be announced.

 

Primary School Students: Prizes

 

  • 1st Place- iPad 9.7 and trophy
  • 2nd Place- iPad and trophy
  • 3rd Place- Samsung Tablet and trophy

*Certificates of Participation will be awarded to every student participating in the Competition.

The competition is open to all Government and Private Primary Schools in Trinidad and Tobago. There is no limit to the number of students that can enter the competition. However, each participating student must complete the registration form and have the form stamped by their School and signed by their Principal. The registration form will also be available on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s website.

If any school/ student is found by the LSA to be in breach of the rules and regulations herein stated, the school/student will be disqualified.

Judges decisions are considered final.

The Land Settlement Agency reserves the right to use the submitted art works for display and promotion during and after the competition; artist will however be given due credit.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS

However, a small label should be attached to the bottom right corner of the model, indicating the student name, school and name of the model piece. Entries that are not properly labelled would be disqualified. The piece MUST be accompanied by a description (200 words maximum) indicating the concept behind the model. There are no limitations to the type of materials that can be used.

Apart from the registration form there is another form attached, for participating schools to list the names of the students participating. This Form is to be submitted via email to LSAinfo@lsa.gov.tt by October 17, 2017.
