MINISTRY
OF HOUSING OFFERS GRANTS FOR HOME REPAIR AND CONSTRUCTION
The Ministry of
Housing is mandated to facilitate the provision of affordable housing
solutions for citizens of Trinidad & Tobago. In fulfillment of this
mandate, we are ensuring that all citizens have access to adequate
shelter, through the construction of 100,000 new homes over a 10 year
period and the upgrade of current housing stock.
The Ministry
currently administers two grant programmes designed to assist homeowners
to improve their homes, by completing necessary repairs; and one
programme to assist in the construction of a first home:
Ø
Home Improvement Grant
provides up to $15,000 of matching funds for necessary home repair.
Ø
IDB Home Improvement
Matching Subsidy provides up to $20,000 of matching funds for necessary
home repair.
Ø
Beneficiary Owned Land
Subsidy provides up to $50,000 to assist persons to qualify for a
mortgage to build their first home.
Application forms
for each programme are in the newspaper. Interested persons can fill out
the forms (Photocopies are accepted) and drop them off at the stipulated
addresses.
