The Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago is a limited liability company registered under the Companies Ordinance (Ch. 13 No. 1) which was incorporated in 1994.
While UDeCOTT has a reporting relationship to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, it is a private company which is wholly-owned by Government and also reports to the Corporation Sole, the Minister of Finance.

Finally, UDeCOTT has been tasked with developing 13 major urban centres as identified in the National Physical Development Plan.
