ADVISOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS, POLICY AND PROJECTS

Job Summary

The Advisor Strategic Communications, Policy and Projects will be required to advise the Minister of Housing and Urban Development on all communication matters, as well as implement, monitor and evaluate strategic corporate communication policies and projects. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain positive relations with all media associates while maintaining a positive organizational image.  Work is expected to be performed with a great degree of independence and with the use of sound initiative and judgement under the direction of the Minister and Permanent Secretary.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gives advice to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development on all Communications matters
  • Develops and implements strategic Corporate Communications policy and projects
  • Implements appropriate schedules and plans
  • Determines relevant protocol procedures and ensures that these are observed for Minister and executives of the Ministry
  • Monitors and evaluates the implementation of policies and projects
  • Designs, develops and implements a Marketing Strategy in line with the Ministry’s Strategic Plan
  • Innovates in the creation and implementation of advertising campaigns on the products and services of the Ministry
  • Strategizes in the provision of a communication/public relations direction, reflective of the goals and objectives of the Ministry and the information needs of its customers
  • Establishes and maintains positive relations with all media associates
  • Ensures the accurate communication of the views and positions of the Ministry
  • Manages the Crisis Communication function of the Ministry
  • Creates and maintains a positive organizational image and brand
  • Liaises with Heads of Divisions/Departments/Sections/Units on policies and projects of the Ministry
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to interface with a variety of stakeholders and influence outcomes for the benefit of the Ministry
  • Credible reputation in the field of print and relevant media
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work within set timelines
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Established record of accomplishment for successfully designing and implementing strategic communications programmes

 

Qualification and Experience

  • A Master’s Degree in Communications or professional certification in Communications, Marketing or any other related discipline
  • Certification in Events Management and Protocol
  • At least eight (8) years experience in the practice of Corporate Communications/Public Relations
  • Experience in brand management and positive organizational imaging
  • A working knowledge of Spanish will be an asset
