Minister of Housing and Urban Development
The Honourable Randall Seth Mitchell, MP

The Honourable Randall Seth Mitchell is currently the Member of Parliament for the constituency of San Fernando East and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development in the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. As Minister of Housing and Urban Development, he oversees the Government’s home improvement, subsidized housing, monitoring and evaluation, land settlement, regularisation of tenure of squatters and urban development policies and programmes. In this portfolio, Minister Mitchell also has responsibility for statutory boards, agencies and other bodies which fall under this Ministry such as the Housing Development Corporation, Rent Assessment Board, Land Settlement Agency, New City Mall, East Side Plaza, Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Committee, Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDECOTT) and the Trinidad and Tobago Mortgage Finance Company Limited.

Prior to his assignment to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development on March 17, 2016, our Minister held the portfolio of Minister of Public Administration in the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Honourable Randall Mitchell is an Attorney-at-Law by profession, possesses a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London and a Master of Law degree from the University of Northumbria and was subsequently called to the Bar in England, Wales and in Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Mitchell is also pursuing his International Master of Business Administration degree with the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.

A true son of the soil, Mr. Mitchell has been involved in community work for many years, and it is this passion which spurred his interest in representational politics. His mission is to ensure that those who are most in need of help in whatever form, have access to that help.

An avid squash player, Mr. Mitchell aims to bring the same on-court drive, determination and enthusiasm to his assignment as Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
